Bike lanes can improve the safety and the flow of traffic on streets where bicyclists and cars mingle. However, usually due to cost, the availability of these lanes is hit or miss. The second annual Southern Adirondack Rock Climbers’ Fest is scheduled for this September 11-13 and will be held at Crane Mountain.

The office of missing South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford is now saying that he is hiking the Appalachian Trail, and is expected back soon.

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) will be rerouting the Northville Placid Trail around the old McCanes property this summer. The new section of trail is scheduled to be completed in August and will include a gorgeous walk through several miles of old-growth northern hardwoods.

Outdoor clothing chain Eddie Bauer has filed for chapter 11 protection amid growing debt and decreasing sales. They do have a buyer lined up and plan on keeping their stores, catalog business, and website operational – so don’t expect a Circuit City-esque sell off to ensue.
