Adirondack Backcountry Ski Festival, March 6th – 7th

The Mountaineer in Keene Valley, NY will host the eighth annual Adirondack Backcountry Ski Festival the weekend of March 6 & 7, 2010. Local guides will lead tours for all abilities on Saturday and Sunday, and Backcountry Magazine will host a dinner followed by backcountry ski films on Saturday.

Free gear demos and mini-clinics will also be held at Otis Mountain in Elizabethtown.

The “Karhu Traverse” is being offered both days and has caught my eye. It is a guided point to point ski tour through Avalanche Pass. For only 90 dollars novice and intermediate skiers will have the chance to experience this Adirondack classic with guides and demo gear… not bad at all.
