Another Beautiful Day
There may not be a whole lot of snow on the ground, but the number of beautiful blue sky days we’ve had this winter more than makes up for it. Just about every day over the last month has treated us to at least a few hours of brilliant, clear Adirondack blue. Today, of course, is no different.
I took advantage of the weather and went for a little stroll. I got a head start on the Great Backyard Bird Count when I caught this little dude playing with a few of his buddies in our side yard. Apologies for the blurriness, the zoom on my camera is not so zoomy.
I love this view of the Ausable River. It’s always different.
The dusting of snow we got yesterday was helping to make some really cool patterns in the water. I took a few minutes to observe and spotted this guy smiling back at me. I love his big, bulbous nose and huge grin. He also needs a hair cut, it’s hiding his eyes.
It reminds me of that great American Express commercial that shows a series of sad and smiley faces in unlikely places.
Speaking of television commercials, we FINALLY got our TV hooked up this morning. I can’t say I didn’t enjoy the television hiatus. It was a nice break and made us both realize we don’t really need 1152 channels. I can still watch the Real Housewives of Orange County online. Wait, wha? I could pretend that was a joke, but I cannot tell a lie. Dave took advantage of our TV hiatus and actually read more books. I, unfortunately, can’t say the same. I did, however, read more blogs. Does that count? I also decided to watch both seasons of Twin Peaks online. Totally random, I know, but I’ve always been curious about that show. And, as I tend to point out a little too often around here, it was before my time.
Anyway, as a result of two months without television, we decided to spend 15 bucks a month and go through our local mom and pop cable provider, rather than fork over $100 plus a month to Direct TV. I’m pleased. I think we could have gone without TV indefinitely, but we wanted to be hooked up in order to watch the Olympics and properly cheer on our new hometown heroes.
