The City of Boston unveiled a new program designed to help people retrieve their stolen bikes using, among other things, social networking platforms Twitter and Facebook.

The 2009 Tri-State Trek, a 3-day 270-mile bike ride from Newton, MA to White Plains, NY to benefit the ALS Therapy Development Institute, will take place on July 24-26. For those not familiar with this ride, it is an incredible event that raises critical funds for ALS research.

Bike lanes can improve the safety and the flow of traffic on streets where bicyclists and cars mingle.  However, usually due to cost, the availability of these lanes is hit or miss. 

When my bike was stolen a few months ago, the bandits also made off with the lock. So, along with picking up a new ride, I had to look into a new locking system. As with most of my gear decisions, I wanted something light and easy to pack and carry.

The 14th Annual Black Fly Challenge Mountain Bike Race will be this Saturday, June 13th.
The race starts in Indian Lake and travels 40 miles across pavement and through the Moose River Recreational Area, climbing up towards Wakely Mountain, before ending in Inlet (one of Towns and Trails favorite Adirondack towns).
