Well, folks, the adventure living has begun. It didn’t take long for us flatlanders to get into some trouble here in the Adirondacks. It all started last week when it first got bitterly cold – temps were in the single digits during the day and well into negative territory at night.

Clarence Petty, who spent most of his life defending and fighting to preserve the Adirondack wilderness, died earlier this month at the age of 104.

David Dodds wandered into the woods on September 14 and wandered back out exactly three months later. He showed up at his family’s hunting camp with his socks frozen to his feet and 30 pounds lighter, but otherwise unscathed.

“Signatures,” a Backcountry Ski Movie, will air on Dec 19th at 7pm at the Mountaineer on Route 73 in Keene Valley, NY.

Just a quick follow up to a story we posted about a a few months ago. The two men who were accused of trashing the lean-to pleaded guilty and paid fines and restitution for the crime.

One of the easiest of the Adirondack High Peaks to hike, Cascade Mountain is often considered a good starting point for those looking to experience a summit in the area.
