Friday Featured Website – The Mountaineer
The Mountaineer in Keene Valley, NY is much more than a gear shop. Its staff are a go-to source for advice on local adventure, information about conditions… and often, just a source of friendly conversation about the area. They also sponsor and setup events, ranging from guest speakers to can’t miss festivals, and each year several of these events raise money for local charities.
Likewise, www.mountaineer.com is more than just an online storefront. It is a collection of information about the area. Including links to local conditions, a directory of guide services, information about area lodging, and a list of events.
One of my favorite features, and I’d struggle to tell you why I enjoy this as much as I do, can be found on their blog and it is simply photographs of The Mountaineer branded bandana all around the world. Florida, Switzerland, Utah, Equador… Customers and friends send these images back to The Mountaineer and they post them here on the site.
