[...] Saturday was a nice break from physical activity as Jess and I drove an hour and a half to Blue Mountain Lake to check out the Rustic Furniture Fair at the Adirondack Museum. It was a lot of fun, with some truly outstanding craftsmanship on display. My personal favorite was a stunning chess set and table by Jeannie Ridgeway. We also had the pleasure of meeting a rustic artist from Michigan, Bill Perkins from Sleeping Bear Twig Furniture. Jess noticed that one of his display signs had the name of town in Michigan (Leland) that we recently visited, and it turned out he lives and works in an area very close to some of our favorite spots from our Michigan road trip.
Hi Monica,

Thanks for your comment. I heard a rumor that the Pure Michigan campaign is under threat of a drastic budget cut - I really hope that's not the case! It's one of the most effective, compelling campaigns I've seen in a long time. Either way, you have a beautiful state and we'll do our part to spread the word about what a great place it is to visit.

Hi Dave and Jess,

Great post. I work with the Michigan Lodging and Tourism Association (who works closely with the Pure Michigan Campaign team) and I love hearing stories from people who come visit with a little help from the ads. Thanks for sharing about your Michigan trip!
