We had planned to spend two nights in Niagara, but found that half a day of people watching and touring haunted houses was enough to get the full experience of Niagara Falls. And neither of us was up for standing in line for the Maid of the Mist or any of the other “get wet” attractions.

Dave and I were both ready to get home, so we decided to drive back to Amsterdam to spend the night with his parents, giving us a headstart on our last leg back to Boston.

Total Driving: 275 miles; 4 hours
The last “official” leg of our trip was a quick 3.5-hour drive from Amsterdam, NY to Arlington, MA. We were eager to get home, but sad to end our adventure. All in all, we accomplished exactly what we set out to do: explore an area of the country neither of us had ever been to, while “responsibly” spending our tourist dollars. I can’t wait to start planning the Great Michigan Road Trip of 201(?).

It was enjoyable to read look through your itinerary. We have been thinking about going to Michigan and it helped me to figure out where to go(and what to avoid)
