Michigan Road Trip: Day 8 – Beach and Petoskey

Amazingly enough, today was the first day we diverged from our itinerary. I had originally planned for us to take a day trip to Mackinac Island, but both Dave and I were feeling the effects of a week on the road and neither of us were up for a long day of anything. Instead, we decided to make it a beach day and headed back to Petoskey State Park to lay in the sand for a few hours and go for one last swim.

Afterward, we drove into Petoskey for dinner and to check out the downtown area. It was another gem of a town and we’re glad we got to see it. Despite missing out on Mackinac Island, we were happy to have a day to relax. We’ll be back some day to explore the Upper Peninsula and we’ll be sure to visit Mackinac Island then.
