Oh, deer!
The evidence is mounting.
As we mentioned in an earlier post, our backyard is a superhighway for all sorts of critters. This morning I noticed a solo set of tracks in the fresh snow. I quickly threw on my coat to take a closer look and, as I suspected, they were deer tracks. The deer had clearly taken a leisurely stroll around our yard and had even come right up to our front porch to snack on one of our cedar trees.
Hoofprint in the snow, right outside the front door
Normally this wouldn’t be such an exciting discovery. I mean, we moved to the woods – we’d be foolish not to expect visits from our animal neighbors. But this deer continues to elude us. We have yet to see him for ourselves, despite his near daily visits. And according to prior evidence he’s left behind, he’s brought friends with him before.
Our deer, plus one
He’s a ninja deer. When I do eventually catch a glimpse of him, I shall name him Shadow.
