Quote of the Week – Henry David Thoreau
There are a lot of things that motivate us to live a life full of adventure, but nothing inspires quite as much as reading the words of someone else who has experienced and enjoyed an extraordinary life.
As part of a new “feature” on Towns and Trails, we are going to try to start each week with just such words. Hopefully they inspire you the way they do us!
I know it is a bit cliche to start off with a Thoreau quote, and especially one of his more recognizable ones, but this captures so much about how I feel about the outdoors, adventure, and life. It sums up the reasons we created Towns and Trails, and it reflects the sentiment that motivated us to leave the city and move to the Adirondacks.
I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.
