Turning abandoned silos into climbing walls
Problem: You have three abandoned sewage silos, taking up space, deteriorating and acting as an eye sore.

Solution: Turn them into the coolest climbing walls anyone has seen.
Climbing Silos as envisioned by NL Architects
The city of Amsterdam held a competition to determine the best adaptive reuse of three sewage silos that were no longer being used. American based NL Architects proposed a multi-use facility dedicated to sports and culture. It included climbing walls, music studios, exhibitions, and workshops… among other things. Unfortunately it did not win. The Amsterdam City Council went with a design that was less radical and more family orientated, but sounds an awful lot like a mall to me. It is called the Annie MG Schmidt House and includes a playground, restaurants, shops, a movie theater, etc.
I’m obviously biased toward the climbing idea, but seriously, how cool would this have been?
