UPDATE: Puppy Rescued From Utah Canyon

Back in early July I caught wind of a touching story about a man who found a puppy at the bottom of a 350 foot Utah slot canyon. Unable to find help, he went about rescuing the dog himself. You can read about the ordeal, and watch video of the rescue, here: Video: Puppy Rescued From Utah Canyon

Of course, a story like this begs for a more complete ending. So it is only natural that everyone has been wondering – “What happened to Puppy?”

Curious about this myself, and unable to find anything online about it, I decided to reach out to the rescuer (Zak Anderegg) and ask him for an update. I may or may not have also offered to adopt Puppy myself…

Well, it turns out that Zak set up a Facebook page to handle all of the incoming inquiries and to let people see how Puppy has been making out.

And here is Puppy, now named Riley, enjoying some outdoor time with his new family.

Yep, Zak and his family decided to keep Puppy. Here is what they had to say about their decision:

In the process of nursing him back to health, we fell in love…. We had no idea he was going to fit in so well in our family. He has made himself right at home & loves our other dog, Kohi. Kohi loves him too. We think it would be too hard to separate him at this point. We are all so attached to each other. . .

Riley has found his “forever” home with us. He just happened to know it before we did! Thanks for all your support.

Now THAT is the happy ending I think we all wanted to hear about.
