Video: Puppy Rescued From Utah Canyon
I just had to share this fantastic and touching story of a man who rescued a puppy from a canyon along the Utah/Arizona border.
Zak Anderegg, the rescuer (and my new personal hero), found the starving puppy at the bottom of a 350 foot slot canyon. After failing to recruit help, he went about rescue operations on his own. Over the course of the next day he rigged some ropes and a cat carrier and pulled the pup to safety.
I know what you are asking… how on earth did a puppy end up 350 feet down a pot hole in a canyon? Well, that is where the story gets a little depressing.
“The rim of the canyon is 350 feet above us, so falling from the rim would have killed him,” Zak said. “Every single time I work it through my head, I come up with the same answer: someone put him there” — left, abandoned.
What the freak is wrong with people?
Anyway, all’s well that ends well I suppose.
Here is some news footage of the story, and the raw video that Zak managed to take of his rescue efforts:

Once the puppy was safely out of the canyon, a little bit of TLC was provided by a local Animal Hospital thanks to a program they call the Angel Fund.

Is there an update on how the dog is doing?
