Why I Like Shaun White
I’m not a big fan of snowboarding. Frankly, I find the whole snowboarding culture pretty obnoxious. It reminds me of surf culture (which I’m totally OK with) on steroids. But I DO like Shaun White, and it’s not just because he’s from my real hometown of lovely Carlsbad, California.
I like Shaun White because he’s so obviously in love with his sport and the thrill of competition. And he’s just so much better than everyone else. He goes higher, harder, and cleaner than any other elite snowboarder – and it’s obvious to my untrained eye, which makes it even more impressive. His performance in the halfpipe last night was incredible. Not only did he successfully defend his gold medal in impeccable style, but he raised the bar for all future snowboarding competitions by throwing down his super-secret-McTwisty-1260-mabob trick. Or something. Good for him.
I don’t know much about him personally, but I’ve been nothing but impressed with him over the years as an athlete, competitor, and ambassador for his sport.
How’s that for a totally uninformed and uneducated opinion on an athlete whose sport I know next to nothing about? It’s why I have a blog.

Hehe nice. Good that you have a blog!
And great photo. It’s like he’s snowboarding in space, which he pretty much is, more than 50% of the time.
Shauns run at the Olympics were just unbelievable, nobody stood a change to win against him.
Shaun White is without a doubt the best snowboarder ever, what he shows is just amazing.
