Best Way to Experience the Alps, On a Roller Coaster?

The Glacier 3000 ski area in Switzerland has built what they call the Alpine Coaster, a 1 kilometer long roller coaster like track that lets you ride a sled down the mountain. With views of Montblanc, the Matterhorn and the Jungfrau mountains, the coaster includes a 520 degree loop, multiple curves, 6 waves, 3 jumps and 2 bridges.

Wait a minute… did that just say ‘jumps’? How in the hell do they pull that off? A short clip of the coaster is seen in this Youtube video, but it doesn’t seem to show any of the stated highlights:

Roller coaster type rides typically freak me out (that is what they are supposed to do, isn’t it?) but this one looks like it would be quite an experience – and I suppose it looks safer than climbing the Eiger.

You can catch an additional video of the coaster, as well as a live webcam, on their website here: http://www.glacier3000.ch/en/Winter/Activities/Alpine-Coaster
