Helpful Puppies

I’m having a bad puppy day.

It is kind of like a bad hair day… but with hairy puppies instead.

As I do my best to prepare for a 5 hour commute to the office, my little bundles of joy are doing everything in their power to complicate my efforts. You know, by not letting me sleep in after a rough night of thunderstorms and power outages. Or, by chewing a hole in the shirt I left out for this trip. Or, by knocking over everything in the room as they use it for a mosh pit.

Truth be told, I think I just woke up on the wrong side of the bed – that little sliver of bed they actually let me sleep on, that is.

But as I sit here and lament how annoyed I’ve been with them this morning, I can’t help but reflect back on those times when they actually have been helpful.

Like when Willa helped me put together an Adirondack Chair…

Or when she decided to contribute to our efforts to beautify the front of the porch…

Then there is Andi, who provided assistance in the building of a raised garden bed…

And later helped out when we were digging drainage ditches to relieve some flooding…

… which of course led to a puppy that looked like this …

Oh, and who can forget the time Esther decided to help us decorate the Christmas tree!

Ok, maybe they aren’t very helpful…

But I can tell you that just looking back through these pictures has put a smile on my face and squashed my bad mood.

I guess that is the point. Even a bad day with a puppy is better than a good one without.
