Whiteface officially opened this week, ski season is here!

Jess and I had to get our photos taken for our season passes… figured why not check things out and take a run or two.

There were only 3 lifts serving a handful of trails, and of those trails there was only one that we felt comfortable skiing – not counting the bunny slope, of course.

However, the guns were blazing, as you can see in the video below, and with this weekend’s snowfall it shouldn’t be long before we can get out there and explore more of the mountain.

The big question for us going into the season has been “what kind of gear do we need?”

We’ve been overwhelmed by options. Tele, AT, Alpine, Touring, Length, Width, Rockers… who knew it could be so complicated? It is enough to make your head spin.

After yesterday though, I can’t help but wonder if we would be better off with ice skates. “Iceface” was living up to its nickname.
